Fisherman's Wharf Park Community Celebration Oct 2 #yyj

Where can you find a downtown park with state of the art play equipment, a sandy beach area, a plaza with seating and new greenspace for community events, a unique rain garden, pilot herb garden, and a stunning waterfront pathway?

Families can enjoy playing in the sand at the new beach area, explore the wharf-theme playground, participate in an old-fashioned sack race or game of Frisbee, stroll along the expanded David Foster Way pathway, and enjoy complimentary treats and refreshments. The event is free and will take place rain or shine.

More than 7,500 new plants, most of which are native species, now make Fisherman’s Wharf Park their home. New trees such as Garry oaks, Douglas maples and Shore pines have been planted, and any unplanted areas have been seeded with native meadow grass. The community is invited to explore the herb garden which includes sage, oregano, rosemary, thyme, chives, mint, lavender, artichokes and figs.

Established in 1937, Fisherman’s Wharf Park previously served as an underused sports field. Improvements have transformed it into a "natural" park with a broad range of amenities for the community and visitors to enjoy.

Join us for the Fisherman’s Wharf Park Community Celebration to explore all of these new features on Tuesday, October 2 from 11am - noon. Complimentary refreshments. Free. Rain or shine. www.victoria.ca
