For Immediate Release

VICTORIA, BC –The former rail station building located near the Johnson Street Bridge will soon be deconstructed and the salvageable building materials will be re-used by the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority. The Harbour Authority plans to reuse the roof and other building components within future Harbour Authority developments at Ogden Point or Fisherman’s Wharf.

Earlier this year, the City issued a request for proposals for the removal and reuse of the vacant building to make way for the new road and path alignments for the new Johnson Street Bridge. The request for proposals call sought a proposal that would outline how the building could be reused at a different location within Victoria and at minimal or no cost to the City.

The Harbour Authority’s proposal was the only compliant proposal received by the City. The City expects that the building will be removed from the site within the next 30 days.
