Police Execute Three Search Warrants in Saanich

File # 12-20892
Date: Friday, September 21, 2012

Victoria BC –VicPD and Saanich Police executed three search warrants at Saanich homes yesterday and seized more than $45,000 worth of drugs and cash.

The targets of the investigation, a 26-year-old Saanich man and 23-year-old Saanich man, were arrested just after 10 a.m. at a home in the 3200-block of Glasgow Avenue. Successive search warrants were executed in the 1600-block of Ash Road and 800-block of Seven Oaks.

The two men had flown under the radar in previous drug investigations, but their arrest came in relation to an earlier drug search warrant executed in the 1400-block of Fort Street on June 8, 2012.

“We have been aware of this crew for a while now,” said Cst. Jeff Lawson of VicPD’s Strikeforce. “Previously we kept getting a runner or an associate, but these two were always the primary targets and we’re happy to have worked with SPD to shut down their operation.”

Police seized more than $30,000 worth of drugs in the raid, taking 7.5 ounces of cocaine and two ounces of heroin off the street. Police also seized drug trafficking paraphernalia, $15,000 cash, and a 2004 Acura.

VicPD’s Strikeforce recently witnessed the pair carry out drug deals in Victoria, Saanich, Esquimalt, View Royal and Colwood within a span of just hours.

Both men face two charges each of possession for the purpose of trafficking and will be subject to a court summons at a later date.
