Saanich Commonwealth Place Pools
Open on September 17, 2012
Saanich Commonwealth Place pools are preparing to be open and fully operational on September 17th after being closed since July 9th. This has been the longest shut-down period for the pool facilities since the facility opened for the Commonwealth Games in 1996. As part of its normal operational cycle Commonwealth Place closes annually for approximately 14 days for cleaning and maintenance.
The unusually long closure this year was required to accommodate the safe removal and replacement of the large skylights over the centre of the pool deck. At the completion of the skylight replacement project the facility then underwent its annual cleaning and maintenance.
After what has seemed like a very long time for many people and families in our community, we are pleased to announce our upcoming opening. We’ve really missed everyone and cannot wait to be open again.
As an added special treat we’re also uncovering a big brand new surprise that we know children will love! It’s a huge 5 piece floating obstacle course that will be available for use during various public swim periods.
