VicPD Arrest Two after Brazen Robbery

Victoria BC – VicPD officers have arrested two people responsible for a brazen robbery on September 2nd.
Paul Wright and Hayley Sproule were both arrested this past weekend for their involvement in last Sunday’s robbery of the Rogers Plus store in the 2600-block of Quadra. The robbery happened at approximately 5:30 pm when the lone suspect entered the store brandishing a large can of bear spray. He then ordered the two staff members into the back room where the safe was opened. The suspect emptied the safe of a large quantity of cell phones and electronic tablets.
Wright was arrested by patrol officers on Friday night in the area of Tillicum Road and Gorge Road where he was seen driving a car. Wright was noticed by officers on patrol and he fled at a high rate of speed from the area.
The vehicle was found unoccupied in the 100-block of Gorge Road. Numerous officers flooded the area and Wright was located a short time later. At the time of his arrest Wright was carrying a duffle bag, which police searched and found clothing used in the robbery and some of the electronic devices believed to be from the Rogers Plus store.
At that time it was also confirmed that Wright had an outstanding Canada-wide warrant for breaching his parole.
Hayley Ann Sproule was also arrested this past weekend and is implicated in this robbery. She is facing charges after she was arrested with a stolen iPhone 4 from the Rogers Plus store.
“The arrest of Wright and Sproule could not have happened without the teamwork and persistence of so many VicPD officers,” said Det. Lori Beauvais, lead investigator, “Putting these two well know criminals back behind bars is a great relief.”
Wright and Sproule were the subjects of a tele-bail hearings and were both held in custody. Wright is being charged with Robbery with a weapon he and will be back in court on October 1. Sproule is also facing a charge of robbery along with a charge of possession of stolen property, her next court appearance is September 14.

At approximately 5:30 pm the suspect entered the Rogers Plus store in the 2600-block of Quadra Street. The suspect was brandishing a large can of bear spray and ordered the two staff members into the back room where he ordered them to open the safe. The suspect emptied the safe of a large quantity of cell phones and electronic tablets.
The suspect ran from the store, but not before emptying the till of an undisclosed amount of cash. He is believed to have made his getaway in an older model white, four-door import sedan.
Detectives are now pouring over evidence in an attempt to locate this suspect.
The suspect is described as a white man in his late 30’s to early 40’s, and approximately 5-foot-8 tall. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a green ‘Tilly’ style hat, dark sunglasses, a green sweater, and jeans.
