Police Looking for Clues
after Hillside Area Mugging 

Victoria BC – VicPD Detectives are releasing new information concerning Sunday night’s Hillside area mugging in hopes of generating more tips from the public.

The violent mugging landed a 24-year-old Saanich woman in hospital after being struck several times with a 2-foot bat or club and robbed of her purse. She required numerous stiches in hospital and is still recovering.

The victim was walking north on Quadra Street around 11 p.m., leaving the downtown after working at a volunteer position. The suspect approached from behind and struck her just short of the Finlayson Street.

Woman Injured after Hillside Mugging

Victoria BC – A 24-year-old Saanich woman was mugged last night in the Hillside neighbourhood and VicPD are asking for help in identifying the suspect.

The robbery occurred near the intersection of Quadra and Finalyson Streets just before 11 p.m. The victim was walking north on Quadra St. from downtown, returning home after her volunteer job.

The victim was struck three times with a 2-foot long pipe or club, including a blow to the back of the head that required several stitches. She was knocked to the ground and the suspect stole her purse.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s, between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-7 with a medium build. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a grey hoodie, a black scarf or bandana that covered the lower part of his face, and khaki-coloured pants with work boots.

After the robbery the suspect fled south on Quadra St. Some witnesses gave chase but lost sight of him near Topaz Avenue. K9 was unsuccessful in obtaining a track.

The woman was treated by paramedics on-scene and later taken to hospital.
