Search and Rescue (SAR) Exercise
to Take Place in Esquimalt Harbour
ESQUIMALT, B.C. - A Search and Rescue demonstration will take place in Esquimalt Harbour at 1:45 p.m. on Thursday. During the demonstration, a CH-149 Cormorant helicopter from 442 Squadron at CFB COMOX will be lowering and recovering a diver in the waters near A Jetty, close to the entrance of Esquimalt Harbour.
Members of the public may witness complex manoeuvres from a Royal Canadian Air Force helicopter, hear loud sounds and see smoke markers being dispersed. This is all part of the planned and closely controlled demonstration.
CFB Esquimalt regularly conducts SAR demonstrations for training purposes in an effort to ensure preparedness to respond to emergency situations. This type of training develops the skills that will be utilized when called upon to provide support to the Government of Canada.
We are grateful to local area residents for their support and appreciate their cooperation and understanding while we conduct this important training.
