#Spiritday for LGBTQ2S Youth tonight in #yvr @glaad
Join QMUNITY GAB Youth at Emery Barnes Park to celebrate and honour Spirit Day (Day of Purple) 2012.
Spirit Day is an annual day in October where folks wear purple to show their support for LGBTQ2S youth, and stand up against homophobic and transphobic bullying. We will also be honouring and remembering those youth we have lost as a result of homophobic and transphobic bullying, and celebrating the resilience of our communities' youth.
GAB Youth will provide candles (but feel free to bring your own as well). We will also have a wonderful youth speaker's list and musical performance, and a moment of silence to honour all of our LGBTQ2S youth and communities.
Please wear purple to show your support, and invite your friends, family, and community. Getting involved is easy -- participants are asked to simply "go purple" on October 19th as we work to create a world in which LGBTQ2S teens are celebrated and accepted for who they are. Learn more & go purple at www.glaad.org/spiritday.
We will have volunteers acting as support people in case anyone feels the need to talk, who can be identified by their purple armbands!
We will begin gathering in Emery Barnes Park at 7pm, and the event will last until approximately 8:30pm. The park is fully accessible, and is located on Davie St. between Richards St. and Seymour St. We will be in the northwest corner of the park.
If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org
