VICTORIA COUGARS HOST FRONT HALF OF HOME-AND-HOME SERIES WITH KERRY PARK ISLANDERS

The Victoria Cougars return to the ice this Thursday for the start of a home-and-home series with the Kerry Park Islanders. Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.

Victoria (10-0-0-1) is coming off a 3-1 win over the Peninsula Panthers last Friday. In that game, Garrett Brandsma scored twice and goaltender Connor Lacouvee made 23 saves in his first start.

Property of the Nanaimo Clippers of the British Columbia Hockey League, Lacouvee, 18, is one of three goalies the Cougars are carrying.

Sam Rice and Dane Feeney remain red-hot. Both players are on 11 game point streaks.

Since their overtime loss to the Comox Valley Glacier Kings back on September 22, Victoria has rattled off four straight wins. During that time, the Cougars have outscored their opponents by a combined total of 20-9.

Thursday night’s game marks the quarter point of the season for Victoria.

Kerry Park (0-8-1-1) is looking for its first win of the season.

In their most recent outing, the Islanders remained winless following a 5-3 loss to the Saanich Braves last Sunday.

Kyle Peterson scored twice while Nolan Kinney added a single for Kerry Park who has one overtime loss and one shootout loss under its belt.

The Islanders have been involved in four one-goal games. In addition, they have also been shut out twice.

Peterson leads Kerry Park in scoring with eight goals and five assists in ten games.

Victoria and Islanders meet for the second of eight times this season. Back on Sep. 8, the Cougars won 10-3 after battling back from a 2-0 first period deficit.

Game 2 of this home-and-home series goes Saturday night in Kerry Park.
