PARENTING IN THE INTERNET AGE
Speakers Series Dual Event Special
Sunday November 18
Two noted experts, one a psychotherapist, best-selling author of parenting books and the other a former Crown Prosecutor and champion of ethical social media practices, will speak about bullying, cyber safety and social media responsibilities on Salt Spring Island.
Alyson Schafer, a regular on CTV, CBC TV and The Marilyn Denis Show, is a strong advocate for conscious parenting. She believes that “bullying is a relationship issue that needs a relationship solution,” and she will provide parents and young people tips about communication that can foster positive habits, and healthy and respectful relationships at home and at school.
Sandy Garossino will bring her legal experience to the work of helping parents and children understand the laws concerning online safety and privacy, and to learn how to do their part to curb bullying and protect the privacy of social media users. She’ll present breaking news on a movement to safeguard young users of social media.
