Grand Opening of Centennial Walkway Dec 8 #Esquimalt #yyj

Grand Opening of the Centennial Walkway
Memorial Park, 1200 Esquimalt Road
Saturday December 8th, 2012, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Celebrate the holiday season and Esquimalt’s Centennial 2012 at the Grand Opening of the Centennial Walkway in Memorial Park this Saturday. The centennial walkway project comprises a complete redesign of the walkway with inscribed paving stones set in place as a centennial legacy for the community.

Mayor Barbara Desjardins will be joined by Centennial Committee Chair Janet Jones and Co-Chair Bruce Devitt in an official ribbon cutting to mark the opening. Complimentary hot drinks and snacks will be served. Local violinist Erica Lavergne will provide musical entertainment for the event.

Parking is available behind Municipal Hall and at the Archie Browning Sports Centre. Handicapped parking is also available at the small parking lot west of the park. This is a rain or shine event with festival tenting on-site in case of rain.

The Centennial Walkway in Memorial Park was created as a lasting memorial to the social fabric of the Township – its people, organizations and businesses. Residents past and present, as well as local business and organizations, were invited to participate in the legacy by purchasing tribute paving stones. Some 650 pavers were purchased over a two-year period.
